UVA Health received three
notable awards this month, recognizing their efforts to not only provide
excellent patient care, but also to keep patients better informed throughout
their care experience. These awards include:
Best Doctors In America
A total of 233 UVA Health physicians have been named by their peers to the 2019-2020 Best Doctors in America® List. This is the largest group ever honored at UVA. It’s a distinction earned by just 4 percent of U.S. doctors, according to Best Doctors, Inc.
Quality Heart Attack Care
The American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology have honored UVA Health with two national awards for meeting national standards for providing high-quality, prompt care for patients suffering heart attacks. The UVA team was recognized for developing a system that allows them to initiate care for heart attack patients before they arrive to the hospital, as well as for providing comprehensive follow-up care during heart attack recovery.
Effective Use of Technology
UVA Medical Center has earned a national “Most Wired” award for using technology to better support quality patient care. The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) surveyed hospitals across the U.S. about their use of technology in several areas, including security, quality and safety, infrastructure, analytics and patient engagement.
On a scale of 1-10, UVA was rated a level 8, with their highest ratings in infrastructure, security and the ability to recover its information technology systems following an unplanned event.
